WIP Robe a l'anglaise retroussee Framboise by Katikut WIP Robe a l'anglaise retroussee Framboise by Katikut
This is the very first dress I make. I already made 2 caracos (it's REALLY easier...) I never thought I'd be able to sew something like this some months ago.

The back will be rolled up and it still needs a lot of ornaments! :)
I want something like this in the end: [link]

Gorgeous dress. What makes it different from a polonaise? (I only started learning about historical clothing recently :) )

Hmmm how can I explain this with my horrible english? Well a polonaise is retroussée (all the time) and the pieces on the front are also the pieces retroussées on the back: [link] and [link]

You see the pice piece? There's no seam in V shape like you can find on a robe à l'anglaise. [link]

That's the reason why a robe à l'anglaise can be retroussée à la polonaise. It means that it imitates the polonaise even if it's not really a polonaise. Does it make sense? :)

I love that color! And it looks like it fits very well.

Thank you so. much. for calling it an anglaise rétroussée rather than a polonaise. It means a lot to me!
