My first traditional animation. Our teachers say that a walking cycle is the hardest thing to draw in animatio, but I'm not sure when I look at Makani's animations O_o

I'm sorry, there are problems with the levels when I scanned my pics. It was a good occasion to use my lightboard.

This is EXACTLY what I'm trying to do right now in my animation class. How long did it take you to make this?

That looks excellent! I like the shading on the outer limbs...or is it inner limbs? Either way it's a nice touch.
If you don't mind me asking, how many frames does this have?

If you notice when people walk, they often kick out with one leg, then follow through with the other. Kind of how one eye is dominant, and the other eye tracks what it sees.

Plus: you need more "bounce" in the steps. Knees are shock absorbers. The leg should give some when the person walks unless you intend to illustrate someone with bad knees.

Cheers!

Great animation! I really like it!
Though...I feel that the arms don't go far back enough when they swing back. Other than that, this is awesome!

I don't think he is "falling" and "catching" himself (the path the head would follow in a walking animation) at the right time, but the leg movements look good!

Ugh, I had to do the walking animation for my principles of animation class...It took me..4-5 attempts till I was satisfied x__x. I'd say it's one of the hardest things I've animated XD

Walk cycles are probably hard to draw because there's so much moving at one time (in a convincing walk cycle, at least). Yours is convincing, though--great job! And somehow it's fun to watch, too, which makes it unique among walk cycles.

It's really hard to make it look like someone is actually walking, and it's apparent that you are also challenged-(everyone will be). The transfer of realistic weight from one part of the body to the other, the muscles reactions...your animation is lacking in pull and squish, and fluidity of movement. It kind of looks like someone is biting his ankles, or that he is walking on sharp objects, going "ow ow ow". I would try sweeping lines with less cleanup as you work to improve. Let the muscles in his body relax-don't let yourself tighten up.

not bad for a first try....like someone already noted the body is a bit stiff and rigid. you could try swinging the arms a bit more because from what I can see it seems like he/she/it has something stuck up their ass (as my teacher once told me) Everything has a flow, the best thing I can suggest is watch people walk. See how their bodies flow when they walk you must give them life......

For a walking cycle (both legs) there are 12 frames. But In this animation there are 4 steps, so, 24 frames. But I've only drawn 12 XD

Wow, that is great walking cycle. I can't even make, that in in 2-D. I wish I could though.

Which flash are you using. I can see it ,so I am amazed. If it is eight I am shocked,i can see it work. Oh I am on Linux that is why I say that. My windows can see it just fine. But I don't go into my Windows partition too often.

Take Care
